On 18 January 2013, CED and Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE) issued a Joint Statement in connection to the Professional Qualifications Directive. The two called for basic dental training to be expressed not only in years (5 years of full-time study) but also in hours (5000 hours) and ECTS (300 ECTS). They also welcomed amending the description of dental practitioners’ activities in the Directive without listing exclusions and supported updating dental practitioners’ knowledge and competences through delegated acts while specifying that the Commission should consult and integrate the relevant stakeholders’ positions in this process. The statement is available here.
