Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses a serious challenge; in the European Union alone it is estimated that AMR costs approximately EUR 1.5 billion annually in healthcare costs and productivity losses. The EU Joint Action on AMR and healthcare-associated infections is a key multi-stakeholder mechanism to help bridging the gap between policy making at the EU and national level and the frontline.
